Producer Services Manager
Sask Pork is a non-profit producer-led organization representing all Saskatchewan hog producers. Our mission is to provide leadership for producers and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the Saskatchewan pork industry’s continued environmental, social and economic sustainability. Sask Pork carries out programming and activities that work to position Saskatchewan as a preferred supplier of high quality, competitively priced pork products for the global market. Our office is located in Saskatoon, SK.
The Producer Services Manager is responsible for provincial delivery of the Canadian pork industry’s national production and on-farm food safety programs. This position works directly with pork producers to assist them in fulfilling the requirements of all programs and offer guidance and in-house training as required on best production methods relating to swine health, biosecurity, animal transport, and animal care.
The position also involves industry crisis planning and coordination; providing input on proposed swine research needs and ongoing monitoring of agricultural acts and regulations pertaining to swine production.
Some travel will be required for national/regional conferences, industry events and committee representation. There will also be off-site producer and transporter training as necessary.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Ø A degree or diploma in a related field with significant swine production experience.
Ø Knowledge of modern pork production methods.
Ø Ability to work independently and in a team environment as required.
Ø Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Ø Competency in Microsoft Office and Access Database software.
