CANADIAN QUALITY ASSURANCE (CQA®)
Food safety is growing in global importance. The Canadian pork industry is fortunate to have had the foresight to develop a rigorous, auditable on-farm food safety program. Our CQA® program, implemented in 1998, is as highly regarded around the world, as it is in Canada.
Although the program is voluntary, Saskatchewan producers continue to participate in the program in high numbers. 99% of all market pigs sold in Saskatchewan are raised under the Canadian Quality Assurance Program and come from CQA® registered farms. The program continues to evolve since it based on continous improvement.

ANIMAL CARE ASSESSMENT (ACA)
Developed by producers, researchers and government officials, and led by the Canadian Pork Council, the ACA is an auditable, educational assessment tool that provides CQA® validated producers with the ability to evaluate and improve, if necessary, animal care in their production units. Focusing on assessing the care of animals, appropriate housing and equipment, in-barn environment and stockmanship, ACA will assist producers in developing a welfare assessment for your farm.
ACA complements the CQA® on-farm food safety program since many practices critical to ensuring food safety are also essential to good animal care. Demonstrating its commitment to quality animal care is a hallmark of the Canadian pork industry.
Fifteen CQA® validators in Saskatchewan are certified to validate the ACA. At July 31, 2008, 13 production units in Saskatchewan completed the validation process and were certified under the ACA program. Saskatchewan has the highest producer participation in ACA in Canada.
TRUCKER QUALITY ASSURANCE (TQA) PROGRAM
A licensing agreement with the United States National Pork Board allows Sask Pork to deliver the TQA® program to Saskatchewan livestock transporters. More than 700 haulers and transporters in the province have benefited from the additional training and are certified under the Trucker Quality Assurance (TQA) program and Canadian Livestock Transport (CLT) programs offered in Saskatchewan and Alberta. More than 700 trucking personnel have been certified to date in Saskatchewan under TQA training delivered by Sask Pork.
CERTIFIED LIVESTOCK TRANSPORT TRAINING (CLT)
The Certified Livestock Transport (CLT) Training Program is a comprehensive training course and support service for livestock truckers, shippers and receivers in Saskatchewan and Alberta. This program offers modules that relate to cattle, poultry, hogs, sheep and horses.
