Welcome to the Saskatchewan pork industry! 

All provincial hog producers who market hogs must register with the Saskatchewan Pork Development Board.  Upon registering you will be issued a Premise I.D. Registration number which automatically links your farm to the National Hog Identification and Traceability Program.  Tattoo numbers will also be assigned to your farm at that time. 

Nearly all of Saskatchewan's hog production is raised under the national Canadian Quality Assurance® (CQA) On-Farm Food Safety Program.  Most packing plants in western Canada require that hogs they procure  be  CQA® certified.   Additionally, many plants require transporters and haulers be certified under the Trucker Quality Assurance ® or the Certified Livestock Transport training program.
