The WCVM SMART program is accepting applications for the Foreign-Trained Veterinarian Swine Medicine Residency Certification program.

This three-year residency combines clinical practice training with Saskatchewan swine veterinarian(s) with project-based Master of Science degree delivered through distance education by the University of Saskatchewan The program aims to provide the requisite practical skills and knowledge required for American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) Swine Health Management (SHM) credentialling within 3 years, and certification within 1-2 years of completion of the residency.

Application to the Saskatchewan Veterinary Medicine Association (SVMA) for a limited-scope license to practice swine medicine in Saskatchewan would follow for successful residents.

Applicants must have a DVM (or equivalent) degree from a non-Canadian university, be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident, be eligible for educational licensure by the SVMA, fluency in written and verbal English, and 5 years of documentable experience in swine practice or industry (2 years in Canada or USA).
