Sask Pork

Sask Pork (the Saskatchewan Pork Development Board) was established in 1998 by the provincial Pork Industry Development Regulations pursuant to The Agri-Food Act

A check-off is collected on all hogs raised in Saskatchewan for slaughter; market hogs $0.85; $.23 per hog for all hogs under 100 lbs., and $0.85 on all breeding stock exported from Canada.

Through this check-off and complementary funding support, Sask Pork carries out activities in the areas of producer education and support, communications and public outreach, industry growth and sustainability and economics and policy development.

We are committed to producing safe and healthy pork. Hog producers support valuable research to ensure our farms have access to new technology and innovations in on-farm food safety, animal health and welfare and the health of the environment.

The goal is a bright and healthy future for hog production in Saskatchewan.

Sask Pork administers and delivers the pork industry’s Canadian Pork Excellence on-farm food safety program that covers production standards in Animal Care, Animal Health and Traceability.

As well, we offer Trucker Quality Assurance training to all individuals involved in the transporting of pigs.
