The Saskatchewan Pork Development Board (Sask Pork) is a non-profit producer-led organization representing all Saskatchewan hog producers. Our mission is to provide leadership for producers and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the Saskatchewan pork industry’s continued environmental, social and economic sustainability. Our office is located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
As the General Manager, you report to the Board of Directors and work collaboratively to carry out the vision and strategic plan for the organization. You are a dynamic and creative strategic thinker, capable of understanding and aligning the goals of the stakeholders within Sask Pork and developing proactive and innovative strategies to strengthen services.
Using strategic leadership and management skills, you will:
Have a proven ability to work with a Board of Directors to drive strategic direction for an organization; develop appropriate goals and objectives in line with the strategic plan;
Recommend appropriate programs and activities to meet stated objectives;
Develop an annual work plan, budget and organizational performance measures for and carry out such plans;
Allocate and manage necessary resources and staffing required for the implementation of the organization’s programs and services;
Have the ability to work with producers and provide support for organizational and ongoing programming development;
Ensure the organization operates according to set internal administrative policies and adheres to requirements set out in the Pork Industry Development Plan Regulations, 2013.
Liaise with government agencies and industry stakeholders to establish ongoing communication and partnerships for the purpose of increased industry development and growth;
Act as key media contact for Sask Pork and represent the organization as necessary on provincial/national committees and boards and at events where the pork industry’s profile may be elevated;
Be able to lead investigation and analysis of development projects that can significantly enhance and impact positively on the Saskatchewan pork industry;
Participate actively in the development of industry policy and program development enlisting committees and working groups as required;
Be responsible for all aspects of human resources development, including recruitment.
Qualifications: A university degree in Agriculture, Commerce or Administration complemented by at least 10 years in a senior management position, preferably the hog industry. The candidate will have a proven track record in management, policy and program development and possess excellent written and public speaking skills.
