Farm Health Guardian is a biosecurity management technology to help farms and food companies improve animal health and protect against the devastating impact of animal disease.
The patented system controls barn entry using facial recognition technology and provides real-time alerts when people or trucks breach biosecurity protocols.
Sask Pork has entered a partnership with Farm Health Guardian, providing digital transport biosecurity technology to all commercial swine farms in the province.
Truck GPS data and geofencing technology will be used for the province’s commercial swine farms. Third-party vehicles, including feed trucks, maintenance vehicles, live haul trailers, and delivery trucks, will all be linked to the Farm Health Guardian software, creating a comprehensive, real-time view of movement across these farms.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Real-time truck movement data for swine farms can help protect healthy animals and speed up response time in the event of a disease outbreak. Trace-out maps and reports can be created by Sask Pork staff using Farm Health Guardian and shared in minutes.
Messaging via email or phone can be quickly sent to farms and vehicles at risk of spreading a disease. In addition, having movement data will increase awareness of transport biosecurity risks across the industry.
-
Geo-positioning (GPS) data is collected when vehicles connected to Farm Health Guardian enter and leave farms and agri-business locations that are geofenced within the software. We refer to this as a ‘visit’.
Only pork farms and related agri-business sites like processing plants, feed mills, truck wash facilities are included.
-
Individual producers will be able to access the data for their location only and will not be able to see the visit data from other properties. Producers can contact Alison Sullivan, Sask Pork Producer Services Manager, to get set up with a login and password to view visit data for their farms.
Sask Pork will be set up as a “Property Group” within Farm Health Guardian software and will set up user permissions and determine who has access to the data. Only Sask Pork staff will be the “admin” and will have access to all the visit data for traceability and disease risk mapping.
-
Individual users own their data. Sask Pork will have access to the data for all the commercial farms in the province that are geofenced in the Farm Health Guardian software. Farm Health Guardian will be able to use aggregated summary data for trend analysis and research projects.
Farm Health Guardian is fully compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation requirements, which are the highest privacy standards in the world. For more information see the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy
-
The movement data (vehicle visits for each farm) can be quickly combined if there is a disease investigation or an outbreak. Sask Pork or other animal health officials would then determine next steps such as notifying affected farms and transporters.
-
For livestock trailers or vehicles that aren’t equipped with GPS, Farm Health Guardian GPS devices are easily installed on any vehicle.
Contact Farm Health Guardian for more information or to purchase GPS devices: support@farmhealthguardian.com.

Participation in the program is optional, but all producers and transporters are encouraged to participate because when more of the industry participates, it increases our ability to reduce disease risk and protect healthy animals across the sector. More participants mean more complete data for effective traceback and response in a disease outbreak or investigation
