Sask Pork is marking Canadian Agriculture Literacy Month with an educational blitz in classrooms across Saskatchewan. March marks the 12th year of Canadian Agriculture Literacy Month (CALM), a month-long initiative whereby the agricultural community takes to classrooms across the country to offer hands-on activities and programs for students. Sask Pork staff and volunteers visited 241 students in 9 classrooms across the province.

The largest livestock show in Canada returned to Regina on Monday, November 28th and Sask Pork was on-site all week with ag education, cooking demos, and a charity partnership. Over the course of the week, Canadian Western Agribition opened its doors to approximately 120,000 attendees, including 1,200 international guests from 63 countries, and around 10,000 school children from urban and rural areas across Saskatchewan.

Sask Pork is highlighting career possibilities in the hog industry thanks to a new Canadian partnership. Several Saskatchewan agricultural organizations, including Sask Pork, are bringing regional agriculture programming to ChatterHigh, a gamified content engagement platform used by students across Canada and the U.S.

Sask Pork celebrated Canadian Agriculture Literacy Month (CALM) with a donation of books to elementary schools in Saskatoon and Prince Albert. CALM, celebrated annually every March and into April, is dedicated to teaching students about Canada’s agriculture industry and food story.
